The NRL's Mad Monday scenes have witnessed another shocking controversy that has damaged the game's reputation after Canterbury players were captured partying nude in full view at a public venue in The Rocks. The Daily Telegraph have slapped naked photos of Bulldogs second-rower Adam Elliott on their Tuesday morning paper, picturing him dancing with his clothes off as his teammates took joy out of his idiocy. In another ugly twist, the report stunningly claims one of Elliott's teammates reached out and grabbed his private parts while he danced to Neil Diamond's hit song Sweet Caroline.
Say what you like about him, but at his very best the man they called The Coal Train was one of the most destructive and feared forwards in the NRL. But along with his freakish ability is a cautionary tale, particularly of a player who reached the top of the game and frustratingly struggled to stay there. He was a sublime talent, with a great offload and a destructive running style.
He is hot. Executive producer Glenn Pallister said the episode attracted the highest ratings of the year. The colourful punter and businessman confirmed to The Sunday Telegraph he was moving on from the upmarket establishment he opened in
A former NRL player turned Australian model has accidentally given fans more than he planned when he shared a nude photograph of himself on social media. Nick Youngquest shared his naked snap with his 88, Instagram fans, carefully placing a flag emoji over his manhood to protect his modesty. Unfortunately, the former rugby league player failed to spot the fact there was a telling shadow on his thigh — giving fans an X-rated glimpse of his undercarriage. Social media has gone nuts since the post when live, with it gaining more than likes and nearly comments.
Newcastle this week signed the utility for next season after the Roosters dumped the utility despite being found not guilty on October 24 of assaulting his former girlfriend in an incident in May this year. However, he was placed on a one-year good behaviour bond for sending a naked photo of the woman to two other people -- one being the woman's brother. The NRL waited for the legal action to finish and for the Roosters to finalise their penalties before reviewing the case.
NRL players Adam Elliott and Asipeli Fine have received a conditional release order after a "disgraceful" performance involving lewd behaviour and simulated sex acts during Canterbury's Mad Monday celebrations. Elliott, 24 and Fine, 26, were charged after a news photographer snapped them nude on the balcony of the Harbour View Hotel at The Rocks on September 3. The players were supported by teammates in Downing Centre Local Court on Monday when they entered guilty pleas to charges of wilful and obscene exposure.
The NRL has distanced itself from a provocative fundraising calendar which reveals a glimpse of Penrith winger Nick Youngquest's genitals. Some of the NRL's biggest stars, including Australian Test representatives Johnathan Thurston and Justin Hodges, are photographed nude in the publication, which is being marketed as the "most provocative calendar ever released by an Australian football code". Many of the shots leave little to the imagination, but it is Youngquest's revealing pose - in which one hand is placed partially over his genitalia - that has caused a stir.
Thankfully preseason kicks off this Friday with the Indigenous All-Stars versus the New Zealand Maori and we can all marvel at the brilliance of our weekend warriors. The NRL is talking of suspending Napa which seems harsh on the Bulldogs considering it happened a few years ago when Napa was still a Chook. The NRL seem to be drawing a line in the sand but may be backing itself into a corner if more videos involving other players become public. The off-field drama began with Sweet Caroline and ended hopefully with the Man of Steel running into kryptonite.
NRL CEO Todd Greenberg has sought to draw a line in the sand after images of Bulldogs players dancing naked on a pub balcony and passed out on the street delivered the code a black eye on the eve of the finals. NSW Police confirmed that two men aged 23 and 25 have been issued with court attendance notices for wilful and obscene exposure and are due to face Downing Centre Local Court on October Mad Monday strikes again.
